Current Event's Blog

This week’s current event’s was about how a man had killed four police officers with an AK-47. I am really glad that it is illegal to carry a gun without a licenses and especially the AK-47. Honestly I think that those guns should be banned but we need them for war. If some one had that gun against you, you probable wouldn’t stand a chance. Those guns are deadly. It probably would be too hard for the President to ban that gun but still allow it to be used in war.

I do not feel very strongly about having no guns but I still think we shouldn’t have them around. I do think it is important in war but not in California. It also makes me sad that those guns are Russia’s number one export. This is not a good thing but we can’t do anything about it.

Current Events

I found an article about a lawsuit brought over a moment of silence before starting school. Parents of a student in Texas, sued the school district because they said it was a way for the government to advance religion. When I looked further into the reason for a moment of silence, it had been given as an alternative for the kids who didn’t want to say the pledge of allegiance to the flag. Those kids who didn’t want to say ‘under God’ or to publicly admit they might be proud to be an American. When my mom and I talked, she even pointed out that this was in Texas. The state where our former President Bush lives.

I don’t understand how a moment of silence can be acceptable instead of saying the pledge of allegiance. Even more, I don’t understand how a moment of silence can be thought of as a prayer when it’s being used in protest of what our country has been founded on. All I can say is I am glad that the Texas courts upheld the moment of silence. Or am I, when I think it’s ridiculous in the first place?

It makes me realize just how blessed I am that I have parents who work hard and want me here at Freedom.

Black History Month!

The person I chose is Dr. George Washington Carver. He was born on July 12, 1861. He was into a house of slavery. He also grew up on a farm in Missouri. The way they say it he a green thumb, he loved plants and flowers. Actually before he became older when he went to school for the first time his name was called out but his last name wasn’t there. The teacher asked him what his last name was but the problem was is that he didn’t know what his last name was so he told the teacher that it was Washington. Then when he got home he asks his mom what his last name was and she said it was Carver. Now we know him as George Washington Carver. While getting an education was very important he still had to do chores. In stead of playing with the other children he would like to learn more and read.

As George got older he became known as the “Plant Dr.” when he went to college he was actually one of the first black people to go to college. During his time in college he earned his Bachelor’s and his Master’s degree. George was a very hard worker and was also famous for other things not just peanut butter. Sadly on January 5, 1943, he died.

Character Clue Blog

Self-Control (OPP: Self-Indulgence)
Definition: The instant obedience to the initial promptings of God’s spirit.
Self control is definitely one that I struggle with, but I see it every where. I have been working on the instant part but it is so hard to obey my mom when she tells me to do something that I don’t agree with. I am working really hard on this and I know with the help of God that I can obey my mom know mater how difficult it might be.

I definitely see self control in class a lot but even that sometimes is hard to. When the teacher tells us to do something it is really easy to obey instantly or not obey right away. From what I see in class some people are really good at this character clue but I know that I am not. I also know that with the help of God that I can have this character easily.

Thriftiness (OPP: Extravagance)
Definition: not letting myself or others spend on that which is not necessary.
Thriftiness is definitely one that I know that every one have trouble with just like me. When I go to a store or I go to a gift shop I feel like I real want to buy something but I just want to get it because I am at the store. It really stinks but this happens to me every time I go to the store or gift shop. I just recently actually realized that I just bought those things because I just wanted to get something. From now on I make sure that when I go some where to shop I should only get something if I can’t find it some where else.

My Hedge of Thorns

My situation was and is different then what you would expect it to be. It was a year ago that I started to watch a show called Avatar. Avatar was such a cool and interesting show to me but it shouldn’t have been except I let it be. I watch this show about three or four months till I stop. I am very thankful that I stop or I would still be watching it today. One thing that keeps me from watching it is a lock on the show so I don’t watch it. This is the physical thorns that keep me away from sinning.

My thorns were spiritual and physical. One night I felt the Holy Spirit telling me to not watch Avatar but I ignored it. After that I also started to think about it a lot but I just said to myself that it’s ok I think about other shows a lot to. A while after I noticed these things I realized that those were signs that said to stop watching Avatar but I did not listen to it. Because I still watched Avatar I broke through the thorns and felt the pain but not even that kept me from watching Avatar. Later on I felt the same thing again so that’s when I had enough so I stopped watching Avatar for good.

Left Behind the Series for Kids!

These books are mainly about four teenagers, Judd who is sixteen, Vicki who is fourteen, Lionel who is thirteen, and Ryan who is twelve. These four teenagers are not Christians, but when the rapture came that all changed. Ryan eventually died in an earth quake which was a judgment from God. While traveling Lionel had to cut off part of his arm to survive because Judd went for help but didn’t come back until he was done.

The rapture was one of the most horrifying events for non-Christians. The reason the rapture happened is that every person on the earth the chance to choose Christ. The rapture happened at night. Judd, Vicki, and Lionel knew what happened right as they noticed that their and other people’s families were gone. Ryan saw his parents name listed among the dead on the TV. All four kids met each other at the church with Bruce Barnes. Ryan was the last one to decide to follow Christ.

Ryan’s parents were the only ones that weren’t Christians. Since all their parents were gone they all stayed at Judd’s house. Judd and Lionel’s parents were always Christians and Vicki’s parents became Christians a few years before the rapture.

The year after the rapture is called the tribulation. During the tribulation the anti-christ tries to get as many people to follow him and not God. Satan has taken over him. The people vote him to be the world leader. He said that he is God. Later on, he enforced a law that said everyone had to take a mark. This meant that anyone who did not take the mark would face the Guillotine.

The kids would witness to everyone they could. One of the ways they did it was making a newspaper to give the students at the school. When Judd graduated he took credit for publishing the newspaper so Vicki wouldn’t get in trouble. Their principle said that they would never be able to get a job because he was involved with the newspaper. The next year Vicki was sent to the Detention center, and then later adopted by Bruce. They also had a website but the Global Community had taken it over.

Many events happened during this time. The kids were often caught and sent to jail, but eventually escaped. Bruce and Judd went to Israel to tell the people about God. When the came back Bruce died from disease. Lionel and Judd returned to Israel and got stuck. They did eventually return to the United States.

Even though it is intense during this time, a little romance went on. While Judd was in Israel he met a girl named Nada. They began to date and eventually were boyfriend and girlfriend. During a judgment of God, Nada was shot and killed. Judd had a hard time. When Judd returned to the United States, he and Vicki became close and eventually married a few months before Jesus returned.

Before the Glorious Appearing of Jesus, a huge, yellow cross appeared every where. It didn’t matter where the people were, every Christian could see it. Every Christian who was hurt was now healed. Even Lionel’s arm came back. Anyone who did not accept Christ and took Carpathia’s mark was sent to hell. After that Jesus came back and brought Heaven to Earth. Now everyone knew each other and the people left behind were reunited with their families.

Gift giving is a real big part of Christmas so the way Christmas celebrations should change is by making sure we keep in mind that it’s a blessing to have Jesus as our Savior and not to become greedy. When we buy and receive gifts we should have in mind that becoming greedy is not being thankful. When giving a gift it’s giving to Jesus so it is a really good feeling than.

The way I will make sure that this wont happen to my friends and family is by before we start opening presents I will remind everyone that no mater what it’s the thought that really counts. I also will remind them that giving presents to some one is giving to God. At the end of the day it will be really fun to know that you did was a great thing.
