The person I chose is Dr. George Washington Carver. He was born on July 12, 1861. He was into a house of slavery. He also grew up on a farm in Missouri. The way they say it he a green thumb, he loved plants and flowers. Actually before he became older when he went to school for the first time his name was called out but his last name wasn’t there. The teacher asked him what his last name was but the problem was is that he didn’t know what his last name was so he told the teacher that it was Washington. Then when he got home he asks his mom what his last name was and she said it was Carver. Now we know him as George Washington Carver. While getting an education was very important he still had to do chores. In stead of playing with the other children he would like to learn more and read.
As George got older he became known as the “Plant Dr.” when he went to college he was actually one of the first black people to go to college. During his time in college he earned his Bachelor’s and his Master’s degree. George was a very hard worker and was also famous for other things not just peanut butter. Sadly on January 5, 1943, he died.
